BASF IrgastabPUR 70 won the EUROPUR Innovation Award
Ludwigsport, Germany/Shanghai, China – July 5, 2017 – IrgastabPUR70 antioxidant developed by BASF won the European Polyurethane Flexible Foam Innovation Award. The 2017 annual meeting of EUROPUR and EURO-MOULDERS was recently held in Milan, Italy. The award was jointly awarded by EUROPUR and the journal Urethanes Technology International.

The Innovation Award recognizes BASF’s efforts in the development and commercialization of IrgastabPUR70, an anti-coking additive for polyurethane foaming. This innovative additive can prevent the thermal oxidation degradation of polyols and polyurethane soft foams in the foaming process, and greatly reduce the emission performance.
The foam produced by IrgastabPUR70 can be used in a variety of automotive interiors, such as fabric trim covers and foam shaped seats, while helping OEMs and distributors at all levels to meet increasingly stringent requirements for interior emission and odor.
This includes not only the more stringent European standard VDA 278 10/11 – the test standard of the German Association of Automotive Industry for the Thermal Desorption Analysis of Organic Volatiles from Non-metallic Materials in Vehicles, but also China’s Guidelines for the Evaluation of Air Quality in Passenger Vehicles (GB/T 27630-2018). The latter puts forward stricter restrictions on eight harmful substances, including aldehydes, and requires all new cars to meet these requirements in 2018.
IrgastabPUR70 antioxidant uses heat stabilizer without amine and aromatic solvent, which can effectively stabilize free radicals, thus greatly reducing volatile organic compounds (VOC), atomization (FOG) and aldehydes, and improving air quality.

In addition, IrgastabPUR70 hardly changes color during foam storage and final use, so it is also suitable for consumer goods and other industries with high requirements for foam whiteness.
