[Property]Colorless strong Corrosive liquid with pungent odor. Relative density 1.564 (20℃), boiling point 193-194℃. It can generate two different crystals with melting points of 9.7℃and –4℃ respectively. Easily soluble in water, and also in solvents such as alcohols, ketones, hydrocarbons, and chlorinated hydrocarbons. It is a stronger acid than chloroacetic acid, and both Cl atoms can be replaced. It reacts with aromatic hydrocarbons to form diaryl acetic acid, reacts with phenol to form diphenoxyacetic acid, and can produce cross-linking when reacting with cellulose. Its acidic vapor is irritating to mucous membranes.

[Purpose]Used as an organic synthesis and pharmaceutical intermediate for the manufacture of methyl dichloroacetate and allantoin and cationic dyes, etc. Dichloroacetic acid has bactericidal and disinfectant activities and can be used as a disinfectant in medicine. It also has the ability to inhibit a variety of staphylococci and is also used as a keratinolytic and astringent agent.

[Brief preparation method]

① Acetic acid is produced by chlorination under the action of iodine catalyst . It can also be obtained by chlorination reaction of chloroacetic acid mother liquor under sulfur catalysis.

②Trichloroacetaldehyde hydrate and cyanide for laboratory use Produced by the reaction of potassium chloride.

[Security and Protection] Dichloroacetic acid is a second-level organic acid corrosive substance, hazard regulation number: 94. Packed in 20kg plastic drum or 70kg large mouth plastic drum. Store in a cool, ventilated and dry place. Be careful not to be exposed to heat or impact during storage and transportation. If your skin comes into contact, rinse immediately with plenty of water.
