Sika acquires Belarusian polyurethane foam manufacturer Belineco

Switzerland-based chemicals company Sika has announced plans to acquire Belarusian polyurethane foam manufacturer Belineco.

The acquisition enables Sika to expand its expertise in polyurethane foam production and development and brings the two companies will have better access to Eastern European trade distribution channels. Belineco’s annual sales are approximately 20 million euros. The deal remains subject to approval by antitrust authorities.

Belineco is located in the city of Brest, which is the westernmost free economic zone in the country. Bordering Poland, it is an important area between the EU and its eastern neighbours. The company has built strong momentum over the past few years, establishing a strong market position in Belarus and Russia. Its manufacturing facilities produce polyurethane foam and a range of other products, which are sold through trade distribution channels in Eastern Europe.

The acquisition complements the acquisition of Swiss polyurethane foam manufacturer Polypag last August. It will also enhance Sika’s product offering and increase store penetration, as well as open up cross-selling opportunities for Belineco foam in Sika’s roofing and facade systems.
