The added value of the chemical industry in the first three quarters increased by 8.6% year-on-year

Data released on the National Development and Reform Commission website on October 27 showed that in the first three quarters, the added value of the chemical industry increased by 8.6% year-on-year, and the growth rate dropped by 0.9 percentage points year-on-year. Among the main products, ethylene production was 13.37 million tons, an increase of 3.5%. The output of primary forms of plastics was 60.27 million tons, an increase of 6.5%; the output of synthetic rubber was 4.01 million tons, an increase of 7.6%; the output of synthetic fibers was 33.64 million tons, an increase of 5.9%. The output of caustic soda was 24.07 million tons, an increase of 6.4%; the output of soda ash was 19.02 million tons, an increase of 0.9%. The output of chemical fertilizers was 55.3 million tons, a decrease of 1.9%; among which, the output of nitrogen fertilizer and phosphate fertilizer decreased by 1.9% and 2.8% respectively, and the output of potassium fertilizer increased by 5.8%. Pesticide output was 2.83 million tons, an increase of 3%. The output of rubber tire casings was 700.47 million, an increase of 7.3%. Calcium carbide output was 19.09 million tons, an increase of 3.3%.
Among the chemical products under key monitoring, the prices of most products increased compared with the previous month. In September, the average price of caustic soda (flake soda) was 2,530 yuan/ton, up 12.4% from the previous month and the same period last year; soda ash was 1,520 yuan/ton, up 2% from the previous month and 10.1% year-on-year. Urea was 1,220 yuan/ton, up 1.7% from last month, and down 23.3% year-on-year; domestic diammonium phosphate was 2,680 yuan/ton, down 0.7% from last month, and down 6.3% year-on-year. Calcium carbide was 2,460 yuan/ton, up 5.6% from last month and 6% year-on-year.
