Shanxi’s 400,000-ton coal-to-ethylene glycol project goes into operation-TMPDA-Tetramethylpropylenediamine

On November 16, the 400,000-ton (200,000-ton first phase) coal-to-ethylene glycol project of Shouyang Chemical Industry of Yangmei Coal Group successfully and stably produced high-quality ethylene glycol. Alcohol (polyester grade), and by-products such as sulfur and ammonium sulfate were also successfully produced. So far, the project has achieved a complete success.

Yangmei Group Shouyang Chemical’s 400,000-ton (first phase 200,000-ton) coal-to-ethylene glycol project is located in Chengnan Industrial Park, Shouyang County, Jinzhong City, Shanxi Province. The project Using coal as raw material, through coal storage and transportation, coal water slurry gasification, purification, CO/H2 cryogenic separation, DMO synthetic distillation and ethylene glycol synthetic distillation, high-quality ethylene glycol is obtained with a purity of 99.96%.

It is reported that this project is a major Shanxi provincial-level transformation and comprehensive reform project and a new coal chemical demonstration project, with a total investment of 6.43 billion yuan. It is an integrated coal-electricity-chemical industry in Shouyang County. An important part of the circular economy industrial park.

The project is planned to be constructed in two phases, with an investment of 3.415 billion yuan in the first phase to build an annual output of 200,000 tons of ethylene glycol. The main product, ethylene glycol, is mainly used in the production of polyester fiber, polyester resin, antifreeze, lubricants, plasticizers, explosives, etc.
