Safety/Bioavailability/Efficacy Studies of Organic Yeast Zinc
Zinc with a difference – yeast/zinc fermentation products
Currently, zinc-containing cosmetic ingredients are widely used, and there are 32 of them in the Catalog of Names of Used Cosmetic Ingredients (2015 Edition). And yeast/zinc fermentation products are one of the most distinctive of all zinc-containing ingredients.
Inorganic zinc is added to the culture medium during the growth of yeast, and the zinc-rich yeast is obtained by the absorption and conversion of zinc by yeast, and then the zinc-rich yeast intracellular matter is separated by bio-enzymatic digestion technology to obtain the yeast/zinc fermentation product.
Compared with inorganic zinc and chemically synthesized zinc raw materials, which are irritating and have low bioavailability, yeast/zinc fermentation products are highly bioavailable, safe and easy to be absorbed due to the advantages of organic combination, and have their unique efficacy in cell proliferation, skin repair, oil control, anti-bacterial and micro-ecological regulation of the skin.
Safety
Through cooperation with the French National Center for Scientific Research, it was found that zinc in yeast/zinc fermentation products is mainly combined with proteins, peptides, amino acids, citric acid, maleic acid, succinic acid and other components present in yeast cells. The diverse organic binding forms effectively improve the irritation and low absorption and utilization problems associated with inorganic zinc. After testing in short-term exposure in vitro, in vitro skin sensitization tests: ARE-Nrf2 luciferase keratin TM test and human cell line activation test (H-CLAT), and patch testing in humans, we have found that Saccharomyces/Zinc Fermentation Products are safe and reliable, and do not have any irritation problems.
High bioavailability
A study of the metabolic kinetics of Saccharomyces/Zinc Fermentation Product in rats was published in Molecular Nutrition Food Research. The bioavailability of Saccharomyces/Zinc fermentation product was 38.4% and 15.5% higher than that of zinc sulfate and zinc citrate, respectively. The advantage of Saccharomyces/Zinc fermentation product’s organic zinc has been fully proved in the metabolism kinetics test in rats.
Promoting cell proliferation
Based on the efficacy characteristics of the enzymes involved in zinc that are relevant to skin care (SOD superoxide dismutase, MMP metalloproteinase, AP alkaline phosphatase, RNA and DNA polymerase), Angie evaluated the efficacy of the Saccharomyces/Zinc Fermentation Product in cell proliferation and skin repair.
Image test found that the yeast/zinc fermentation product at 48h, in the concentration of 0.078%, 0.156%, 0.313%, 0.625%, 1.25%, 2.5% have obvious proliferation-promoting efficacy; zinc, as well as the amino acids, proteins, trace elements, etc., provide sufficient nutrition for the proliferation of cells.
Promote cell repair
The reparative effect of the yeast/zinc fermentation product was verified by cell scratching. Compared with the blank group, the sample group showed significant migration-promoting effects on fibroblasts at concentrations of 1% and 2% (p<0.01). Zinc-rich amino acid peptides and other components are more conducive to cellular metabolism and absorption, and can effectively bind to intracellular proteins and other substances after entering the cells, and participate in the regulation of many genes and enzyme activities of the organism, including cell division, growth and differentiation.
